Suggestions

Collect ideas, let members vote, then decide

Members post ideas, the community votes, and your staff decide — approve, deny, mark under consideration, or flag as already implemented — with the decision posted back on the original suggestion so nobody has to go ask what happened to it.

Turning it on or off

Every server chooses for itself — switch Suggestions on or off from your dashboard, under Engagement. When it's off: members cannot post new suggestions.

Setting it up

  1. 1

    Create a board

/suggestion boards sets up the channel members post into.

  2. 2

    Set a submission cooldown

Stops one enthusiastic member from flooding the board with ideas faster than staff can review them.

  3. 3

    Decide on auto-approval per board

Leave it off for anything sensitive; turn it on for boards where you're happy to let votes decide outright.

  4. 4

Restrict submission by role if needed

A denied-roles list lets you exclude, for example, very new members from posting until they've been around a while.

Multiple boards

You aren't limited to one suggestions channel — run separate boards for different purposes (general server suggestions and, say, a specific game's suggestions) each with its own settings, cooldown, and denied-role list.

Auto-approval

A suggestion can approve itself once it crosses an upvote threshold you set, without a moderator needing to act — useful for high-volume boards where the community's vote is trusted to speak for itself. It's off by default; turn it on per-board once you're comfortable with it.

Commands

Tips & things people get wrong

  • /suggestion removeboard deletes a board's configuration, not the suggestions already posted in its channel — clean up the channel separately if you want a full reset.
  • Auto-approval and staff review aren't mutually exclusive — staff can still act on an auto-approved suggestion afterward if the vote turns out to have been premature.
