Starboard

Copy the most-loved messages into their own channel

When a message collects enough of a chosen reaction, Hez copies it into a highlights channel — the community curating its own best moments without a moderator doing it by hand.

Turning it on or off

Every server chooses for itself — switch Starboard on or off from your dashboard, under Engagement. When it's off: messages will not be copied to your highlights channel.

Setting it up

  1. 1

Pick your star emoji and a highlights channel

Any emoji works, not just the literal star — pick one that fits your server's tone.

  2. 2

Set a threshold that actually filters

Too low and the channel fills with noise; a good starting point scales with how active your server is — a bigger server needs a higher bar.

  3. 3

Add tiers once the base threshold feels right

Tiers are a refinement, not a starting requirement — get the single-threshold version working first.

Tiers

Rather than one fixed threshold, you can define multiple tiers — for example a lower star count for a standard entry and a higher one that swaps in a different, fancier emoji once a message really takes off. Hez always displays whichever tier's threshold the message has actually crossed.

Ignoring and bypassing

Ignored channels are excluded from starboard entirely — the usual choice for a channel that's already a highlights feed, or one you don't want members star-bombing. Bypass roles let specific members' messages onto the starboard without needing the reaction threshold at all, typically reserved for staff announcements worth preserving regardless of reaction count.

Commands

Tips & things people get wrong

  • /starboard top surfaces your server's most-loved messages of all time — worth pointing new members at as a "best of" if your server has been running a while.
  • A threshold that never gets hit is as useless as one that's hit constantly — check in after a week and adjust either direction.
