Reminders
Nudge yourself or the server at a set time
Nudges someone at a time you choose — either a member reminding themselves, or a message aimed at the whole server — written in plain, natural time expressions rather than a rigid date format.
Turning it on or off
Every server chooses for itself — switch Reminders on or off from your dashboard, under Messages & Automation. When it's off: pending reminders will not be delivered.
Setting it up
- 1
Set your server's default timezone
Under Server Settings — this is what reminders fall back to unless a member overrides it for themselves.
- 2
Nothing else to configure for personal reminders
Members use
/reminder setimmediately; there's no per-server setup required for that half of the feature. - 3
Use admin settings if you plan to run server-wide reminders
Recurring announcements aimed at the whole server, rather than a private nudge, are managed the same way but with admin-level oversight.
How times are understood
"In 2 hours", "next Friday at 6pm", a recurring "every 3 days", or even a raw cron expression for anything more precise — the parser accepts all of these and resolves them against the timezone in effect for that reminder.
Timezones, snoozing, and admin oversight
Reminders use your server's configured timezone by default, but a member can set their own so "6pm" means their 6pm, not the server's. /reminder snooze pushes a reminder back once it's already fired, without recreating it from scratch. Admin tools let staff view or delete any member's reminders — useful for cleaning up or auditing server-wide reminders specifically.
Commands
Tips & things people get wrong
- A recurring reminder ("every 3 days") keeps rescheduling itself after it fires — deleting one instance doesn't stop future ones; use
/reminder deleteon the reminder itself. - If a reminder fires at what feels like the wrong hour, check whose timezone it's actually using — the member's own override always wins over the server default.
