Birthdays
Wish members happy birthday automatically
Members register their birthday once, and Hez takes care of the rest — announcing it automatically on the day, in a channel and format you control.
Turning it on or off
Every server chooses for itself — switch Birthdays on or off from your dashboard, under Messages & Automation. When it's off: birthdays are remembered but nothing will be announced.
Setting it up
- 1
Set an announcement channel
Nothing gets posted anywhere until this is set.
- 2
Choose plain or embed messages
And write the wording — the defaults are generic and worth personalising.
- 3
Decide on locking and confirmation
Locking is the safer default for servers that have had trouble with members changing birthdays for attention.
- 4
Set up a temporary role if you want one
Optional — pick the role and how many hours it should last.
Message format
Announce with a plain message or a full embed — title, description, colour, footer and thumbnail are all yours to write, with the usual template placeholders standing in for the member's name and details.
Privacy and locking
A member's birthday can be public (visible to anyone who asks) or private (only Hez and the member know it, used purely to trigger the announcement). Locking a birthday after it's set means only an admin can change or remove it afterward — stops a member repeatedly moving their birthday to get extra attention. A confirmation step before saving is optional, for servers that would rather members double-check before it's locked in.
Temporary birthday role
Optionally grant a role for a set number of hours on someone's birthday — a lightweight way to make the day feel special without a manual role assignment, and it removes itself automatically once the duration passes.
Leap-year birthdays
For members born on February 29th, you choose whether their non-leap-year celebration falls on February 28th or March 1st.
Commands
Tips & things people get wrong
- Hez only ever stores day and month unless a member also supplies a year — nothing forces them to reveal their age.
/birthday upcomingis a good pin candidate — it shows who's next, without anyone needing to check the calendar themselves.
