Play music in voice channels with a shared queue

Plays music in your voice channels with a shared queue everyone can add to — Spotify, YouTube and SoundCloud sources, audio filters, and a persistent now-playing panel. The full experience is a Premium feature; the free plan includes a limited version.

Turning it on or off

Every server chooses for itself — switch Music on or off from your dashboard, under Integrations. When it's off: hez will not join voice channels to play music.

Setting it up

  1. 1

    Enable the sources you want

All three can run at once, or you can limit it to just one.

  2. 2

Set a default volume and, if needed, a command-restricted role

Limits who can control playback at all, separate from the finer-grained DJ role below.

  3. 3

Add a DJ role and pick which actions it gates

You don't have to restrict everything — pick only the actions that actually cause problems when used carelessly, like skip or volume.

  4. 4

Turn on 24/7 mode for a dedicated music channel

If your server has a channel that's always meant to have music playing.

  5. 5

Set up a request channel if you want a command-free way to queue songs

Members just post a link or search term there instead of running /music play.

Sources and playback

Each source (Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud) can be individually enabled or disabled, with a default source used when a request doesn't specify one. Spotify links can optionally resolve through to playable audio automatically, since Spotify itself doesn't provide streamable audio directly.

Filters and controls

Real-time audio filters — bassboost, nightcore, vaporwave, karaoke, and 8D — apply on top of whatever's currently playing. A DJ role can be granted control over specific sensitive actions individually (skip, stop, remove, clear, volume, loop, shuffle, filter) rather than all-or-nothing, and vote-skip can be turned on so a majority of listeners can skip without needing DJ permissions at all.

24/7 mode, autoplay, and requests

24/7 mode keeps Hez connected to a channel you designate even when the queue empties, instead of leaving after a few minutes of silence. Autoplay keeps similar tracks coming once the queue runs out. A dedicated request channel lets members queue songs by just posting a link or search term there, without needing to run a command.

Playlists

Members can save the current queue as a named playlist and play it back later — useful for a recurring listening session rather than rebuilding the same queue from scratch every time.

Commands

Tips & things people get wrong

  • Vote-skip and a DJ role solve different problems — vote-skip is democratic and needs no configuration beyond turning it on; a DJ role is for giving specific trusted members always-on control.
  • 24/7 mode keeping Hez connected indefinitely is deliberate — if you don't want that, leave it off and Hez will disconnect after the queue empties and stays idle for a while, as normal.
