Autoresponder
Reply automatically when someone says a certain phrase
Replies automatically whenever a message matches a trigger you've defined — built for the questions your server answers every single day, so a human doesn't have to type the same thing again.
Turning it on or off
Every server chooses for itself — switch Autoresponder on or off from your dashboard, under Messages & Automation. When it's off: your automatic replies will not be sent.
Setting it up
- 1
Create your first trigger
/autoresponder create— pick a match type, the phrase, and the reply. - 2
Scope it if needed
Restrict a trigger to specific channels or roles rather than the whole server, if that's more appropriate for what it answers.
- 3
Set a cooldown
Even a short one (a few seconds) stops accidental repeat-triggering in a fast channel.
- 4
Test partial matches carefully
"Contains" triggers fire far more often than people expect — a short, common phrase as a contains-trigger can go off inside completely unrelated sentences.
Matching styles
A trigger can match a message exactly, anywhere in it, only at the start, only at the end, against a wildcard pattern, or a full regular expression for anything more specific — with an optional case-sensitivity switch on each one.
What a trigger can do beyond replying
A response isn't limited to text — it can run a full action chain (add a role, react with an emoji, and so on) at the same time as replying. You can also make it reply only some of the time with a chance percentage rather than every single hit, delete the triggering message, add reaction emojis, and control whether Hez replies to the original message or just sends a new one.
Cooldowns and stopping early
Each trigger has its own per-user cooldown, so the same person spamming a phrase doesn't get spammed back. stopOnFirstMatch — on by default — stops checking further triggers once one has already matched a message, which is the sane default: it stops one message accidentally firing off five different auto-replies at once.
Commands
Tips & things people get wrong
- "Contains" is the single most common source of an autoresponder firing when it shouldn't — prefer "exact" or "starts with" unless you specifically need it.
/autoresponder toggledisables one trigger without deleting its configuration — better than deleting and recreating it if you just want it paused.
